The real INC, Please Stand Up!
The starkest insight from the Bengal leaderboard isn’t the story of the top 2 parties. A more fascinating tale is in the second line from the bottom of that leaderboard (highlighted below).
That line says a lot about “staying relevant”.
And this doesn’t apply just for politics. In a world where time essentially doesn’t stay static in an eternal state of sameness — it’s the ones that evolve, transform and find paths to stay relevant that survive. We have plenty of such stories in the corporate storybooks — HMT, Kodak etc., that got wiped out because they, firstly did not foresee the times ahead, and then when the reality dawned on them — they chose to live in denial, till they turned into just footnotes.
INC story resembles that trajectory. I am still optimistic and am using a present continuous tense — because deep down I feel if there is a system that can somehow bring a national alternative, it’s them.
